Yiannis is a specialist Tax and Finance Consultant of the Firm. His rich and remarkable career has made him a renowned and a very well-respected figure in Cyprus’ public and private professional circles. He has served the Republic of Cyprus from various crucial offices, last one being the Office of the Commissioner of Taxation, which he served for more than 5 consecutive years (February 2016- July 2021) until his retirement from public office. He had earlier been appointed as the Project Manager for the integration of the Cyprus Tax Departments and later, in October 2014, as the Assistant Commissioner of Taxation of the new integrated Cyprus Tax Department. Before that, Yiannis was employed in the VAT Service (Ministry of Finance) upon the introduction of VAT in Cyprus where, among others, he headed a District Office, overviewed European Matters and Tax Liability Section, run the Large Taxpayers’ Office and supervised the Audit Strategy. In his earlier years, Yiannis served at the Cyprus Productivity Centre as a business consultant in costing, management accounting and financial analysis.
Yiannis has represented the Republic in numerous formal gatherings, before the European Commission and the European Council, as well as various international tax bodies. He is a lecturer in accounting and finance topics in several post-graduate University modules. Yiannis is a graduate of the University of Minnesota (BSc. Bus. Adm.) and Old Dominion University (MBA). His is a Member (FCCA) of the Chartered Association of Certified Accountants (UK). Attended in 2012 (Fulbright Scholarship) at the Kennedy School of Government, Harvard University the program “Comparative Tax Policy and Administration.
